    History

The Aged & Disabled Persons Hostel & Welfare Association was established in 1980 to operate the Bulimba Hostel, which had provided low cost accommodation since the 1940’s. In 1997 it became an accredited Aged Care Facility providing accommodation for 150 residents under the trading name of: The Clem Jones Home.

Following a strategic review in 2011, the Home was sold as a going concern. Income from the proceeds of the sale of the Aged Care Facility and other existing investments are used to fund a number of community projects, either directly or partnering with other charitable organisations, that fall within its aims and objectives.

The Association is a registered charity with a range of endorsements from the Australian Taxation Office. The Association’s Constitution clearly sets out its aims and objectives as:

Providing for the direct relief of poverty, sickness, suffering, distress, misfortune, disability or helplessness of Aged and Disabled persons.
